The hit or miss of New Adult novels

Since I'm a new college student I really love the New Adult genre. Its so relevant, and easy for me to connect to most of the characters, which makes them really enjoyable to read. Especially because they are mostly quick romance novels.

BUT

It seems New Adult novels are either a hit or miss. Over winter break I read about 8 different New Adult novels, some of them were well written and planned out. They were fun to read and I would recommend them to all my friends at school. Then the other novels that had a writing style that was geared toward 10 years olds. (not to bash to middle grade novels because some of them are outstanding and well written). Basically what I want to know is why some of these New Adult novels feel like they are just tossed on the shelf without a second thought.

I hate giving a bad review to novels that an author has worked so hard on and put out there for everyone to judge, but I would like to know what the publishing company was thinking when they published some of these New Adult novels. THESE ARE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS. We like to read well thought out and well written stories.

Taking Chances (Taking Chances, #1)Taking Chances by Molly McAdams is one of those novels. (Now, I do have to say many reviewers on goodreads liked this story, so make your own opinions, I just would not recommend it). While this story was well published - I didn't notice any typos, misspelled words or any errors in the grammar- but I also had to skim the last half of the novels because I could not get through it. Each event only lasted a page or two, the author never elaborated to explained visual imagery of the story. Plus the plot was so unrealistic, and the characters had no development.

On the other hand, there's many New Adult novels that I loved. While they were all easy reads and just a comedic romance novels, these are some well written books that I actually enjoyed reading. Such as Isn't She Lovely by Lauren Layne, I couldn't put this one down. I bought it to read on the airplane on my trip to Paris but this one didn't even make it on the plane. I finished it days before. It was witty, fun, and romantic. I recommended it to every one I can.

17883712Some other New Adult novels that I really enjoyed are All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton (this one was deeper then I expected), any novel by Cora Carmack, and Wait for You by Jennifer Armentrout. I'll try and post reviews on all the books mentioned above and all the other New Adult novels I have read soon.

How do you feel about this new Genre? Do you agree they are hit or misses? What are some of your favorites?

AND FINALLY - when will there be some sci-fi or fantasy novels. If these do exist PLEASE let me know!
